What is the therapist's role?
A marriage and family therapist (MFT) is a trained professional who assesses and addresses mental and emotional disorders, behavioral issues, and relationship problems.
Do you accept insurance?
Blackwood Therapy Services does not accept insurance. Without insurance constraints, you and your family can freely decide on the frequency, duration, and type of therapy sessions without any arbitrary limits. This enables us to create a more personalized approach that is highly effective.
What is a "No Secrets" policy?
This policy encourages all participants to share their thoughts and feelings openly. Secrets keep relationships from being authentic and full of trust.
When is couples therapy not indicated?
We cannot conduct couples therapy if there is current physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. Active substance abuse undermines the effectiveness of couples or family therapy. Individual work is indicated immediately to address these conditions. I can refer you to an appropriate resource for these conditions.
